Mona Spellbody is Maud's grandmother. She attended Cackle's Academy in her youth. When Mildred Hubble and Ethel Hallow travelled back to Mona's time through the Mists of Time, they unintentionally got Mona expelled when she was caught up in a spell cast by the Cackle sisters, but Miss Cackle travelled through the Mists herself to convince her mother to take Mona back when her expulsion began to change Maud's personality in the present.
